A introduction to natural language processing and learning. Including representation, parsing, natural language generation and the interaction between long term memory and understanding. The class will stress the the relationship between understanding and inference and will examine issues in knowledge representation. It will also include a discussion of a more global view of the use of memory in understanding, planning, and learning.
